Evolv is helping me get back on track!

November 19, 2009

I never did make that 5:00 am Tuesday morning wake up call!  We were up late and I decided that instead of getting up so early, I’d just run on my lunch hour instead.  Great plan except when I was getting ready to leave for my run I realized that I had left my running bag at home!  No bag, no run! Grrrrrrr!! To make up for my missed run Tuesday, I ran yesterday on my lunch hour (which was supposed to be a rest day.)  I drank a bottle of Evolv about 30 minutes prior to when I was planning on heading out for my run but ended going out about an hour later than that.  At the two-mile mark I was starting to feel a little fatigued so I shut it down, grabbed a bottle of Evolv out of my bag and went into the gym. I rode 4.5 miles on the recumbent bike and I could have ridden much longer but I had to get back to work.  Overall, I felt VERY good.  I am trying to take things slower than normal because I just can’t afford another relapse!  I slept like a baby last night! :)

This morning I was successful with my morning run – a steady 3-miler at a medium pace.  I drank my bottle of Evolv prior to my run and that seems to be working well for me.  I am hoping to improve my times and increase my distances as I get back onto this running wagon.   Tomorrow is a cross training day for me which I do at the gym during my lunch hour so no getting up at 5:00 am!  Woohoo!

Successful Run!

November 16, 2009

My run yesterday morning went so much better than I expected! I was very excited about the opportunity to get out there and try Evolv but as it turns out, a bad night prevented me from getting up at 5 am to run as planned. By time I woke up, my husband had already left for work which meant that if I was going for a run I was taking my soon-to-be 4-year-old son with me. That’s the last thing I wanted to do. I just CANNOT run while pushing a stroller. I absolutely hate it! I even gave away my jogging stroller about 6 months ago because it was just collecting dust and taking up precious space in the garage. But I was bound and determined to get in my run so I chugalugged a bottle of Evolv, pulled out the regular stroller, packed my son in it (all 53.5 pounds of him!) and headed out the door. I walked the 1/4 mile to my “course” and then began a slow run because, after all, I have been sick for three and a half weeks. I have to say that I only ran a mile and I was miserable the whole time. I really do hate pushing a stroller but more importantly, I was disappointed in the short run. I thought for sure the Evolv would have helped. Dejected, I walked the 1/4 of a mile back to the house and do you know what? By time I got back home I was chock full of energy and chomping at the bit to run! Apparently, I didn’t give the Evolv enough time to get into my system and start working!  I walked in the door, set my son up with a video and hopped on the treadmill (something I avoid except when it is the dead of winter and the house is really cold.) I ran two more miles and it was AWESOME. I felt so good and energized! It’s the best I had felt in over a month! I wanted to run longer but didn’t want to push it since I am still sick and on antibiotics. Today is a rest day for me and if I have a good night sleep and can make my 5 am wake up call tomorrow morning, you can bet your bottom dollar that I will be hitting the road again… this time without the stroller! Have a great evening everyone!
